Our History
The Cobb Library Foundation was created in 2003 by civic minded citizens aspiring to grow successfully the Cobb Public Library System into the best possible library and more. Cobb County has consistently been led by progressive and visionary leadership. These leaders had the foresight to develop a county library system where learning, literacy and creativity are promoted. In 2003, the Chairman of the Cobb County Board of Commissions, Sam Olens, shared his vision with the community and formed the first Cobb Library Foundation Board. This Board initiated private fundraising efforts and developed community advocacy programs on behalf of the Cobb Library System.
Support for and involvement in the Library Foundation is derived from all parts of the Cobb County community. These intelligent neighbors recognize the importance of the services the library provides. Libraries are so much more than books. Libraries change lives and are places of opportunity for all ages.
Whether through volunteering, financial support or active participation, the Cobb Library Foundation fosters education, literacy, creativity and growth. These contributions improve the quality of life in our community making it a better place to live. When our library receives assistance from private sources, it is a valuable endorsement of our foundation’s mission and ever improving Library System.
