County officials are currently seeking public comment on the 2019 budget.
The Fiscal Year 2019 budget for the County Government, including funding for the Library System from October 2018 through September 2019, is expected to be adopted in July.
The final decision about the budget is made by a majority vote of the County Commissioners: Chairman Mike Boyce and Commissioners Bob Weatherford, Bob Ott, JoAnn Birrell and Lisa Cupid.
According to media reports, the county commissioners are considering a reduction of the Library System’s budget of about $2.9 million, or about 25% of the annual allocation. Under consideration for the Library System is the closure of selected library locations and staff layoffs.
The public may present information and opinions on the budget to the County Commissioners by email, phone, and in person during public comment sessions at commission meetings and at other public meetings.
